Fun Things You Can Do In Your Pool
18th Dec 2018
While swimming or just chilling out in your swimming pool on a hot day might be the most common reasons to get into the water, there are other fun things you can do in your pool from time to time to keep things interesting.
Let's take a look at a few ideas.
A Pool Party
Whether the guests are getting into the pool, or just hanging out around it, pool parties are fun and also a great opportunity to show off your swimming pool. A night time party can be made really cool with the addition of some party lights or ambient lighting, along with the pool lights themselves.
A pool party doesn't have to necessarily be an adult or teenage affair. They make for an awesome fun day for birthday parties for younger children as well, so long as everyone is well supervised.
Adult pool parties present the perfect opportunity to fire up the BBQ and cook up a feast while enjoying drinks with friends and family under the night sky.
Toys for Pools
There are pool toys for kids, adults and everyone in between. Just floating about in the water can get a bit dull after a while, so liven things up by having some toys for everyone to play with. Even simple pool noodles can be good, as they offer diversity. You can use them as floats, or even for play fighting in the water. Noodles are just one idea. Pools shops stock a whole variety of pool toys to choose from.
How About Diving for Sunken Treasure?
Who doesn't love a good old treasure hunt? Really, you can use many different types of treasure items for this game, just so long as they sink and won't discolour the water. Coins are perfect, plus they actually have monetary value. Toss some coins into the pool, have the kids put on goggles, then dive down to hunt for the treasure.
Dolphin Races
Sometimes also called mermaid races, dolphin races involve two or more people holding their breath and seeing who can swim the furthest underwater before having to surface for air.
Belly Flop Contest
It might sting a bit, but can be great fun for everyone. Some people will naturally have a body size/weight advantage in this game, but even a small person can make a pretty decent splash if they can master their technique.
Water Polo
Pool shops will often have supply of amateur water polo equipment, which is essentially two small nets and an inflatable ball. You probably need a pool with a little bit of size about it to make this game more competitive, but water polo still provides hours of fun in the water for a group of people.
