Should I get a pool heater?
10th Sep 2019
So, you’ve invested in a pool, but you’re not sure what pool equipment and accessories to invest in. One of the most common questions we get is – should I invest in a pool heater? The answer is, it depends. Your lifestyle, budget and pool location are all things to consider before you commit to a pool heater. If you are struggling to make the decision, here are a few questions you should ask yourself:
How many months of the year will you be swimming?
If you only plan to use your pool in the summer to cool down but aren’t interested in swimming for the rest of the year, you are probably fine without a pool heater. Instead invest in a quality pool cover and place your pool into hibernation during the winter. If you want to ensure that you get the most out of your pool all year round, then a pool heater is a great investment.
How much sunlight does your pool get?
If your pool is out in the open without any surrounding shade, then it will heat up much more than a pool that is sheltered. Before you invest in a pool heater, monitor the temperature of your pool for a few months of spring or autumn. If you find the water too chilly to swim in these transitional months, you should probably invest in a pool heater.
Is your pool sitting un-used?
We hear it all the time. The kids (or kids at heart) were super excited about the pool to start with, but as the years pass by, the pool sits there unused. If this is the case, a pool heater is a great way to make the pool exciting again and to ensure that you are getting the most out of your investment.
